I’m a brand consultant. But brand in the big sense of that word. Branding is not just about making you look pretty. It’s about having a fucking point of view in what you do. Being distinct, clear, and OWNING your personality. Being known for that.
Branding is the process of communicating who you really are (truth) so that people can understand you—as if your brand were a human being.
Branding is both essential AND a luxury. You should be thinking about branding on day 1 and day 10,001. When you start a new business, your approach to branding should be ‘less but better’, and when you’re mature, it’s more like a complicated act of carefully juggling all your outputs.
But fuck being careful. Do not be careful in matters of brand. Be aligned, be whole, be true, be firm, be fearless. Even if your brand is sweet and gentle, be fearless through it. Can you smell my brand through my words?
